A Sense of Humor is Important

31 for 21 Challenge – Day Ten

————

I have always been a firm believer in a good laugh.  Even a little sarcasm now and again has gotten me out of some tough situations.  But ever since Charlie was born I know that some wonder if they have to ‘tip-toe’ around the subject.  Should they talk about the fact that he has Down syndrome?  We do.  It’s a pretty big truth in our lives, but trust me we aren’t over the top sensitive about it – that is unless someone is intentionally making a hurtful, ignorant or rude comment.  I think having a good sense of humor and enjoying a good laugh every once in a while is a good way to lighten the mood.

That’s why I had a good laugh when I came across this website promoting Down syndrome awareness ‘memorabilia’ for a lack of a better word.

Here are some of my favorites:

Perfect as a bumper sticker don't you think?

One for Alex...

A shirt for big brother Henry

And a shirt for Charlie

And a shirt for Charlie

I think I just finished my Christmas shopping!

It’s OK – you can laugh now.
