We made it to November, one of my favorite months.

For me it far surpasses a recent holiday that involves gobs of candy and celebrates fear. I realize that I’m in the minority here, so I will give Halloween a bit of credit for getting us out to visit those that we love, to say hello and check in with our neighbors. Yes, there is that.

Though I am most certainly thankful for our littlest duck hunter, monkey and puppy dog.

And I might have to change my tune a bit next year as it seems all three of the boys *got it* while we were trick or treating. William would literally shake in excitement when handed a piece of candy. Nope, we don’t get out much.

Yet in my heart I’d much rather focus our celebrations on this season of harvest. Time with family and friends, enjoying the beauty and bounty all around us. This probably best explains my love of November and tolerance for October. After all is there anything better than an entire month of giving thanks?

I’m also partial to the month of November because today is Alex’s birthday.

Boy are we thankful for him.

Alex and Henry went hunting together for the first time this weekend. Say what you will, but there was something magical about this father-son time together. Before we know it Charlie and William will be joining in on the fun.

All of this talk about November and you might be wondering if I forgot about my October promise…to share a collection thoughts about Charlie written by some very special people in our lives. I have many more to share, and since they are most certainly are stories of thanks and giving I think they’ll feel right at home in November too.
